Auto Body Technician (A-Level) – Commission Pay

Mel’s Auto Body is seeking an experienced, highly skilled Auto Body Technician to join our growing team. We are one of the largest independently owned collision repair facilities in Western South Dakota, operating two locations in Rapid City and serving our community for over 40 years.

As an I-CAR Gold Class repair facility, we are committed to quality repairs, ongoing training, and investing in the latest repair procedures and equipment. We are looking for an A-Level technician who takes pride in producing high-quality work, works efficiently, and wants to be part of a professional team focused on customer satisfaction and continuous improvement.

Compensation

Commission-Based Pay
Expected Annual Earnings: $75,000 – $130,000+

Top performers have the opportunity to exceed these earnings based on productivity and quality.

Responsibilities

• Perform structural and non-structural collision repairs
• Repair, replace, and refinish vehicle components to manufacturer specifications
• Read and interpret repair plans and OEM repair procedures
• Perform vehicle disassembly and reassembly
• Conduct quality inspections throughout the repair process
• Assist with diagnostics and post-repair verification procedures
• Maintain a clean, safe, and organized work environment
• Collaborate with estimators, painters, and team members to ensure efficient workflow

Qualifications

• I-CAR Platinum certification preferred
• Current welding certifications preferred
• Minimum 5 years of collision repair experience
• Strong knowledge of modern vehicle construction and repair procedures
• Ability to perform high-quality repairs in a fast-paced production environment
• Valid driver’s license and clean driving record
• Positive attitude, strong work ethic, and team-oriented mindset
